I Called It
I will start and say that in no way am I claiming to have anything to do with WoW forever or anything. What I will say is I did predict something like the one server world and said it during a tour of Blizzard. Since it has been at least 10 years and I am not going to give any specifics of what I may have seen during said tour IMO the NDA everyone must sign when entering Blizzard should not be applicable to this recounting.
My wife and I were being shown around Blizzard by one of the staff that she was in contact with concerning a research project on which she was working. We were all having a good time and during one of the conversations we were having with a couple of the developers in one of the departments, I still to this day get a kick out of how fast a few people’s expressions can shut down when they don’t want to say anything, indicate anything what have you. I mentioned how I was an occasional EVE:Online player and this was around the time the Cross Battlegroup AH was implemented with news on the cross battlegroup LFG improvements were coming, may have been visa versa at this point everything is really vague memory other than the immediate shutdown/closing up of expression when I essentially said the following.
With the Cross Battle Group wide AH and the coming cross battlegroup LFG queues I could see a trajectory going forward that could/would lead to a situtation like EVE:Online where everyone is on the same server or everyone could playtogether reguardless of where thier “Home” was.
After saying this the several developers we were talking to all went straight faced immediately like a switch was flipped, as I said this still amuses me to this day. As soon as the topic was changed everyone was back to normal so it was like the training saying in Karate Kid, “Wax On, Wax Off”.
This was in the fall of 2014, here is a picture in front of the Thrall statue of my Wife and I.
