While I agree they most likely do have feedback somewhere that says the players want to be "master" shapeshifters, most are saying that in the current context where many many of the abilities are base line and a few rare are exclusive.

In a world where the opposite is true that few things are baseline and most ability are spec specific they player base does not know what it is asking for or there is a mass separation of what the player base is asking for and how Blizzard has interpreted it.

I like shape shifting to have options, not like the old Power Shifting feral bullshit that blizzard did not like and changed the mechanics specifically to eliminate. By the way the talent tree is now, they are essentially introducing Power Shifting for all specializations and that is a step in the wrong direction.

I think Blizzard must have market research that says that druids wish they could spend more time changing forms. It makes sense, "I'm a master shapeshifter, why am I always using the one?"

I think the easiest way to deal with this would be to make up some kind of system where if we use a talent we could "channel the spirit of X (insert bear/cat/moonkin/tree) and do Y." This would make you appear as if you were in that form for some amount of time depending on the talent, without removing the functionality of the form you're actually in. Yes, it's purely aesthetic, but it would make us feel more like the cool shapeshifters we're supposed to be.

I just left a comment about this on another blog, before I got around to checking out yours in my reader. Luckily, I have enough to say about the topic that I can leave another comment or two, before I feel I'm tapped out on this subject.

:)

At the end of the day, I don't condone what the guild or guilds have done in this situation. But, I also feel that they are doing what they have to, in order to maintain the level of success and even reverence that we have placed up on them. We, as the player base, get very invested in guilds at that level. We track them almost like people track celebrities in the gossip rags. They are doing what they need to, in order to keep us entertained and to keep themselves in the papers. We would be just as angry with them, if they weren't on top of their game anymore.

It's a Catch 22.

[...] Malchome wrote a post this week about his frustration with Cataclysm raiding. It’s become bad enough that he’s just retired from raiding for the rest of the expansion, and it’s not because of having reached an impasse or run out of raiders. No, his issue is that the fights have become too ‘gimmicky’, and one of the characteristics of gimmicky fights is that you can’t just roll over them once your raid is overgeared/ over levelled. ie. you have to know the gimmick.
I was using data from WoW Progress, their data only went as far back as Ulduar T8 and at that point it was not split by boss kill but by achievements. It would be interesting to show the Naxx numbers. However it is IMO that due to Naxx being very easy that make Wrath so successful in raiding.
